For a long time getting aerial shots were an extremely challenging and time/cost-intensive exercise but drone corporate video production has changed that.
Traditionally, they would require large cranes, fork lifts or even helicopters. As companies such as DJI have started to produce more and more consumer-focused, easy-to-operate drones, the ease of securing aerial shots for smaller corporate video has become possible.

Drone corporate video production really open up a whole range of shots otherwise unattainable. In a similar sense to shooting with a camera, you want to mix up the types of shots you collect. One of the main benefits of a drone is that you have a greater range number of axis to operate within. Not only will you able to dolly and pan round a subject, you’ll be able to achieve top down and and tracking shots with ease. As the technology evolves and becomes more user friendly, more complex shots are becoming safer and easier to perform.
Give Location Context In A Shot
Drone shots are useful for establishing a scene or opening and closing a video. They help add context to where you are and really help show the viewer the wider landscape or scene. This can be especially helpful if the landscape is part of what you are trying to get show. It’s also a useful tool for highlighting different aspects of your subject on a larger scale. For example, if you were making a video about a factory you are not only limited to the people and interior, you can show exterior features such as solar panels or green space. These are shots that would not easily be achievable any other way besides a drone.
FPV
Drones continue to become a more and more essential tool in any video production. As drones become more capable, the types of shots that are attempted become more and more complex. FPV or ‘First Person View’ drones have become and genre of video in their own right. They allow you to create a very engaging fly through of a building or facility with more more exciting and dynamic flight capability above traditional drone filming. It is now common to see one-shot fly-throughs of different facilities. Although popular, it requires a higher level of risk and skill to be performed well.
